The West Virginia men’s basketball team gained a crucial win in its bid to return to the NCAA Tournament. The Mountaineers won a thrilling 80-77 game against the No. 15 Auburn Tigers at the WVU Coliseum, as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on the back of 31 points from Erik Stevenson.

The West Virginia University tennis team opened up its regular season with a trip to Philadelphia on Saturday with a doubleheader against Penn and Temple. The Mountaineers split on the day, opening their season at 1-1.

The No. 23 West Virginia University wrestling team traveled to Norman, Oklahoma, to face off against Oklahoma University on Friday night. The Mountaineers (7-2, 1-1 Big 12) lost a close one, falling 18-15 to the Sooners (7-4, 1-1 Big 12).

Last week, the Morgantown Board of Park and Recreation Commission (BOPARC) revised renovation plans for the city’s ice arena after hearing concerns from community members. Local teams can now have a shortened 2023-24 hockey season, with the first of two phases of renovations beginning in March.
